Local Repeaters & Nets
Local Repeaters
GEARS Repeaters
The Golden Empire Amateur Radio Society maintains two repeaters, a VHF repeater, and a UHF repeater, both located in Forest Ranch, at 2800 feet elevation, covering Chico, and most of Butte and Glenn counties.
Both repeaters are open, and any licensed ham is welcome to use them. Please follow the FCC rules and be friendly and respectful of others.
Emergency use of the repeaters has precedence over all users at all times. The repeaters are configured for solar operation with battery backup. They share a dual band (144/440) antenna, installed 90 feet above the ground.
146.850 Repeater (GEARS East – Forrest Ranch)
The VHF repeater frequency is 146.850 MHz, minus offset, PL tone 110.9 Hz.
145.410 MHz repeater (GEARS West – St. John)
The VHF repeater frequency is 145.410 MHz, minus offset, PL tone 123.0 Hz.
440.650 Repeater
The UHF repeater frequency is 440.650 MHz with plus offset, and a PL tone of 110.9 Hz.
